Wild Wax Combo from Copenhagen, Denmark, have their 10 year anniversary this year. And every couple of years the band records a fantastic album, this being their fourth, and I have been a fan from the beginning. The opener "Hot Rod Racer" is nothing less than raw and raucous. A steady stomping rhythm and a whole lot of energy make it clear once and for all that the Wild Wax Combo is still very much alive and kicking. A thumping upright bass, screeching lead guitar with just a little bit of distortion (Paul Burlison style) from time to time, fantastic vocals and wild screams are all mixed together to form the ultimate in authentic rockabilly music. This new album contains 3 coversongs. "Phone Call" (Billy Fury), "Susie Q" (Dale Hawkins) and "Miss Froggie" (Warren Smith). The remaining 10 songs are all selfpenned originals. That makes 13, the 14th is a primitive version of track #2 "Mad Dog Mama". I must say I like the raving first version better, I just love that wild guitar sound. There's really not very much I can add to this review, if you like your rockabilly music wild and frantic, pick up this shiny platter in your local recordshop, or contact Enviken Records. You won't regret it. Tracklisting: Check out these albums as well:
